What is a Poltergeist?
The Poltergeist (from the German word “Polter”, meaning noise or rumble; and “geist”, meaning ghost or spirit) is one of the most popular known paranormal phenomena. Interactions with this force may include slamming doors and throwing objects, but also weird noises and the manipulation of lights. Interactions with poltergeists tend to be fairly mild, but in some cases may actually turn violent. Punching, scratching, and pushing are more possible effects of a Poltergeist. Even though this type of haunting has been sensationalized in the media, it is actually one of the rarest paranormal occurrences.
Where does it come from?
This type of haunting is believed to be attributed to a member of the household unknowingly sparking these events. Raw emotional power actually feeds the Poltergeist, giving it more strength over time. This could be incited by some sort of emotional turmoil or anger emanating from a direct source, but keep in mind that they did not actually summon anything. It is purely the effects of intense emotions.
How do you deal with a Poltergeist?
Seeing as the energy stems from a specific source, it is important that you find the root cause. A basic way to deduce who may be the focal point of the events is to take note of whoever is present at the time of the disturbances and go from there. This is something conjured by intense emotions so it is important to remember to not antagonize whoever the energy is centered around as you don’t want to make matters worse. They might be causing it because of some underlying health issues or mental trauma so it is important that you get them to seek the proper care needed to aid in whatever issues they may have.
